Codeine is an alkaloid found in opium, and in saps from other poppies such as Papaver bracteatum, in concentrations ranging from 0.3 to 3.0 percent. While codeine can be extracted from opium, most codeine is synthesized from morphine through the process of O-methylation. It was first isolated in 1832 in France by Jean-Pierre Robiquet.
Effects:
Most people who use codeine for its prescribed purposes experience few side effects. A bothersome cough disappears, perhaps with some drowsiness. Post-surgical pain decreases, perhaps with some nausea. When the medical problem goes away, the patient stops using the pills or cough syrup with no significant after-effects. Dangers exist for users:
The codeine will cause nausea, dizziness, and drowsiness and possibly some constipation but it is a regular painkilling dose for an adult.The most profound effect of codeine and other related opiates is psychological. Flooding the brain with opioids from drug use causes the brain to stop producing naturally occurring endorphinsA group of naturally occurring substances in the body that relieve pain and promote a sense of well-being., or pleasure-enhancing hormones. 1) I learnt that many different drugs can be from one plant/ Some drugs can be used a little,if someone used many, it's harmful to him/her body./ most drugs are made up of many elements.
2) I want to know more drugs/ I would like to do some experiments of drugs/ I want to discuss the drugs I knew with classmates.
3) Much convenient/ Everyone can give their comments to others/ We can help each other
4) Hard to control/ Use much time/ Bad for eyes
5) Creating a Wiki page for assessment
6) I gave some advices to them,I think there are helpful
